Hey, Rich Allen here, coming to you from the campus of High Point University.

Now, I know many of you may not know much about High Point, but if you’ve been following some of my previous blogs, you’ll know that I use High Point as kind of an example of a school that had set a really high standard for itself. In fact, it sets a standard that it calls “Extraordinary”.

And I’m on campus again because I have the privilege of sending my daughter here for the next four years. So, we’re here for her new freshman orientation visit. I’ve got to tell you that just being on this campus reminds me how critically important it is for you as a business owner to set the standards in your business to a level that not’s just average, to a level that’s truly extraordinary, something that’s above what your competition’s going to do.

See, they’ve done it here at High Point. Every aspect of this university, every aspect of the college experience has been established to be at an extraordinary level. And we are experiencing it again this week.

It’s just amazing at what it does, the feeling that it gives you. I want you as a business owner to give your customers that same feeling, that same feeling that we’re getting right here on this college campus that our daughter we know is going to experience for the next four years.

You see, they’ve said, it’s not okay to just be another college campus. It’s not okay just to be one of many and hope that over time, people will come back and revisit the campus. No, they’ve set the standards so incredibly high that you can’t help but be impressed by what you see, by the people you meet, by the experience you have, by the setting that you find yourself in. They’ve done it in a college setting. You can do it in your business.

So, I want to inspire you today, if you haven’t done it yet, to take some time to think about what’s the standard that you set for your business? What’s the standard that you’ve told your team members, “This is what we’re going to create for our customers?”

And whatever you do, set it high. Make it something that it’s out of this world, better than your competition. If you do that, you’ll get people feeling about your business the same way that I feel about this university and that is, “I can’t think of a better place for my daughter to be.”

Take some time. If you don’t know much about High Point University, check them out. You’ll not only get some idea of what they mean, but they’ve centered it on a single word, “extraordinary”. Everything lives out to that standard. What’s your word? Find it for you.

I’m Rich Allen, your business coach coming to you today from High Point University, inspiring you hopefully, to set your standards high. Become extraordinary in your field. I hope you will. I look forward to seeing you on the next video. Take care.
