Here’s an example of a GREAT opportunity for small business owners to get in front of decision makers who may be interested in doing business with you.  You may have something similar on the calendar in your area.  If so, you need to be sure you’re ready to go when these opportunities arise.

So just what does “ready to go” look like?  I’d suggest you focus on 3 things to prepare for meeting your ideal prospect:

1)  Spend some time thinking deeply about the needs, wants, concerns, fear and worries of your ideal prospect.  Make sure you’re coming ready to address what matters most to them.

2)  Identify the top 3 things that consumers in your industry are most fearful of when buying a service or using your product.  Come ready to address each of these common objections – even if they do not come up in the discussion.

3)  Offer a guarantee for your product or service.  If you’re confident you have a great product or deliver the best service in your industry, then be willing to protect your customer from anything going wrong.  It shows confidence and commitment – and people love to buy from folks who stand behind their promise.

Go prepared to WIN some new business!  Good luck!

The BIG Event is coming to the Coastal Bend!

Billed as “A Governor’s Small Business Forum,” this effort aims to bring small business owners together with companies needing the products and services they offer. It is sponsored by Del Mar College.

The fourth annual gathering is happening Wednesday, August 5th from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Congressman Solomon P. Ortiz International Center (402 Harbor Drive).

Derived from an acronym that represents Booming industry, International trade and Government contracting, The BIG Event includes a luncheon, reverse trade show, seminars and networking opportunities. “This is an opportunity to grow your business through access to new markets,” said Ann Fierova, director of Del Mar College’s Small Business Development Center. “Purchasing officers and representatives will be on hand from organizations that have contracting needs. They’ll share opportunities and information on how to become a valuable vendor for them.”

Despite a slowdown in the oilfield arena, attendees will learn that current economic conditions are favorable for small businesses. Texas Workforce Commission Chairman Andres Alcantar and Texas Secretary of State Carlos H. Cascos will serve as keynote speakers.

Online registration to attend is available. The cost is $35 until August 4th, and $45 at the door the day of the event. Registration includes lunch, access to sessions and an exhibit pass.
