Moving forward on Stage 3 – Building Your Race Team. Now, take a good look around you and ask yourself, do I have an excellent team of advisors to help me as the race goes on? Let’s admit it, not one of us could win the “race” on our own. We need to surround ourselves with strong, talented support that we may need from time to time throughout the long, grueling race we call the Tour de Profit.
Here are a few specific questions for you:
Do you have a strong CPA on your team? Not just a bookkeeper who will record your financial entries, but an accountant who intimately knows your business, your plans, and your long term goals? If not, this is a must. Talk with other business owners, ask them for their recommendations, then spend the time to meet, interview and select just the right CPA for you.
How about a business Attorney? Do you have a close relationship with a legal professional who can guide you through many of the challenging business decisions that will present themselves from time to time? You must have someone who is solid technically, determined to defend your position and caring enough to understand your “why”. You’ll know you have the right one when you find them.
What about a Business Coach? Ask yourself honestly, who will hold me accountable for my personal actions and behaviors? Likely not your spouse. If you want to reach your goals, then you must have a Business Coach.
How about an Administrative Assistant? If you’ve got heavy administrative work, then hire support to handle it or better yet, get a Virtual Assistant.

Don’t make the mistake that many business owners do. They think they are superhuman and can handle all of the details themselves.
If you want 2019 to be your best year ever, then take the time to build a strong team around you. That will allow you to stay focused on the strategy, your ideal customer, your culture and how well you are delivering on your promise.
Leave the other activities to those who are fit and more skilled to handle them. Do this and you’ll see yourself enjoying your business grows faster than ever. Stage 3 is critical to freeing you up to lead your company.
